Bruise Remedies
Simple rnatural remedies can help you heal bruise rapidly.

Like a cut, a bruise involves bleeding. Only the bleeding occurs beneath the surface of the skin, when an accidental encounter with something hard breaks blood vessels. Blood leaks out; producing discoloration as well as swelling and soreness. In general, the farther down a bruise is located on your body, the longer it will take to heal. A leg bruise can hang around for up to a mouth, primarily because leg vessels have greater blood pressure.
To minimize discoloration and encourage speedy healing, follow these tips.
Use ice first:
Applying ice or cold water to reduce pain and swelling
To reduce pain and swelling, cover a new bruise with a cold pack or an ice bag for several hours. Applying ice right after the initial bump can limit the size and severity of a bruise. Wrap the ice in a towel, elevate the bruised area as much as you can, and then ice the bruise for 20 minutes.
Make your own emergency cold pack? Use a plastic bag of frozen vegetables from your freezer. Just tap the bag on a hard surface to loosen and separate the frozen vegetable pieces; then lay the bag on the affected area. The bag easily conforms to the contours of your body.
For child size cold packs, cut up a sponge, soak it in water, and freeze it.
Save heat for later:
Applying heat to a bruise dilates bleed vessels in the area, so they can clear away blood cells and fluid. Wait at least 24 hours after the initial bump so that the bruise is fully developed. Then soak a washcloth in comfortably hot water and lay it over the bruise for 20 minutes. Repeat three times a day.
Opt for Arnica:
A homeopathic remedy, Arnica has long been use to treat bruises, although no one knows the way it works. Apply the cream, ointment, or oil once a day for two to three days. Avoid using it on broken skin since it can cause a rash.
Rub in vitamin K:
In cream from, vitamin K helps the body break down blood at the bruise site and reabsorb it. Apply the cream as soon as possible after the bruise occurs and repeat twice a day until the bruise fades.
Warning
See a physician if a bruise is very large or if it swells a great deal; if it is on the head or face and there is headache, difficulty seeing, neck pain, or shortness of breath; if it is on the chest and there is a deeper chest pain; if it is over the kidneys (on the sides of the mid back below the ribs); if there is persistent abdominal pain; or if there is reduced sensation or difficulty moving the bruised limb.
Similarly bruises that appear with an apparent cause, such as an accidental bump, should be evaluated by a physician. They may be signs of a bleeding disorder.
