A collection of home made recipes for natural hair care
Hair Care with Ease
Not all teas are just for drinking, instead strongly steeped teas made of fresh herbs are valuable hair rinses.

As people are getting more conscious about hair care, the importance of hair rinses has pronouncedly increased. Infect natural or homemade products had been used for centuries as final hair rinses to give hairs bounce and beauty. Although you may find commercial products easily over the counter, this is totally useless to spend money for such chemical based hair products when you can find better from your kitchen. All you have to do is to be a bit smarter and spend few minutes in the kitchen. The results will confirm that you are not at the loser end.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
The use of vinegar either alone or along with some herbs for the purpose of hair care can be traced back to ancient times. Vinegar adds shine to dull dry hairs, prevents tangles in long hairs and cures itchy scalp. Any type of vinegar can be used but apple cider vinegar shows best results. Secondly, vinegar can be also be used with herbs or essential oils. Take about half cup of apple cider vinegar and mix well in about one quart of water. Use as a . final rinse after shampooing. You may further wash hairs with tepid water but leaving them as such is better. The smell of vinegar will disappear as the hairs dry. This recipe can be used once or twice a week. More frequent use is not recommended.

LEMON JUICE
Instead of vinegar one may also use one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice mixed with water. This has the same effects, however, vinegar has a stronger darkening effect.

VINEGAR WITH LEMON
Both vinegar and lemon juice can be used together as well. For this purpose these can be taken in equal parts. This works best for oily hairs.

SOY SAUCE
Soy sauce diluted with equal amount of water; when used as a final rinse gives black shiny hairs.

BLACK TEA BAGS
Used tea bags are miraculous for this purpose. You can re boil some used tea bags or just soak in warm water for sometime and than use as a final rinse after shampooing.

HERBAL RINSES
Herbal hair rinses are well known to give shiny and beautiful hairs. These can highlight or enhance hair color, as well as condition them. You can use both fresh or dried herbs. You can easily prepare them either by boiling the herbs in sufficient amount of water for few minutes, or by pouring boiled water over the herbs and let it simmer for sometime (just like making tea). Now let this water cool to an acceptable temperature. Now strain and use as a final hair rinse. For this purpose a number of herbs can be used, rosemary and sage being one of them.

ESSENTIAL OIL VINEGAR HAIR RINSES.

Ingredients: (This makes a large batch that you can use as needed)
  • 2 cups of cider vinegar,
  • 10 drops of essential oil (suggestions: lavender, rosemary, clary sage, rose geranium, lemon, or patchouli).
Mix vinegar and essential oils. This mixture should be stored in a glass bottle since the essential oils may react with plastic. This mixture can be used right away, but if you allow it to sit for a day or two the "flavors" will blend. When ready to use: dilute 1/2 tablespoon of the vinegar/essential oil mixture in 1cup of water. Rinse through wet hair after shampooing. Rinse it out with fresh water or, for extra conditioning benefits, just leave it in and towel dry hair.
