AVOID OILY PRODUCTS:

It is a common belief that flaking is due to dryness of scalp, hence excessive oil treatments are preferred. This missconception must be cleared. Greasy and oily face and scalp products can aggravate the condition and should be avoided.

FOLLOW SHAMPOOING GUIDELINE:

1. Shampoo often.
Wash your hair often?every day if necessary. Generally, the more frequently you shampoo, the easier it is to control the dandruff.

2.Massage it in.
When shampooing, gently massage your scalp with your fingertips to help loosen scales and flakes. But don't scratch, that can lead to sores that are worse than the dandruff.

3. Lather twice.
Always lather twice with a dandruff shampoo, for the first time leave shampoo for 10 to 15 minutes so the shampoo has sufficient time to work. Then rinse your hair very thoroughly. Follow that with a quick second lather and rinse. The second rinse will leave just a bit of the medication on your scalp so it can work until your next shampoo.

4. Change the brand frequently.
As our skin can adapt to the ingredients of a particular shampoo, so it is adviced to change the brand every few months to maintain its effectiveness.

5. Use Conditioner.
Although dandruff shampoos are effective on the scalp, they can be a little harsh on the hair, so try to apply conditioner after every shampoo to counteract their effects.

SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS AND DIET

1. For seborrheic dermatitis sufferers, a diet which contains too much saturated fats, processed sugars, and junk food is the major contributor to the imbalance which promotes candida overgrowth. Reduce saturated fats and processed sugars in your diet.

2. Increase the intake of fiber in your diet. Fiber helps to eliminate candida overgrowth.Increase the intake of fresh fruits, green vegetables; such as broccoli, spinach, collard sprouted seeds and kale. Also stress on raw nuts and cereals.

3. Take essential fatty acids and vitamin E levels through diet or if required in oral preperations as these two essential nutrients help the skin cells to retain moisture

. 4. Avoid using red meat, sweets, strong coffees and teas, candies, aerated drinks like Pepsi and coke, pickles and spices.

3. Although excess scalp oil can cause problems, an occasional warm-oil treatment helps loosen and soften dandruff scales. Here is more on daily hair care.

INCREASE WATER INTAKE

Water has a very promising effect on all conditions, it improves sebor dermatitis by maintaining adequate moisture of skin. Take a minimum of eight glasses in moderate climate and increase this amount as climate becomes hot.

SUN EXPOSURE

Sun rays are good for dandruff, this is the the reason it subsides during summers. This is because direct ultraviolet light has an anti-inflammatory effect on scaly skin conditions. But this sun exposure should not be more than 30 minutes a day to avoide the harmful effects of direct UV Rays, also use a sun screen to protect your face.

AVOID STRESS

Skin conditions such as dandruff and other forms of dermatitis, acne, melasma and many others are often made worse by stress, so remain calm, look for ways to counteract the stress. Exercise well, meditate and do not worry.
