Turmeric
Turmeric, an essential spice of Indian cooking, is well known for its anti-inflammatory and blood purifying tendencies. It has been used for the natural treatment of boils, carbuncles, blisters, wounds and eczema for thousands of years.
For the treatment of boil, turmeric can be used in many ways.
- It can be applied topically either alone or with other natural ingredients to cause a boil to heal speedily.
- The most popular remedy is to take turmeric orally about one teaspoon two to three times a day with warm water.
- For topical applications directly apply turmeric powder over the lesion about three times a day.
Another choice is to make a poultice with oil of oregano and honey. Apply this to the boil and cover it with a bandage or cotton cloth. Results may appear as early as few hours to two days depending upon the stage of the boil.

Honey
Honey the greatest gift of nature for humans, is an effective cure for all types of boils, carbuncles, cuts, skin ulcers and so forth. It is an antibacterial so rapidly clears infecting bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains. Secondly, honey may disperse into the deep skin tissues, so that it can reach deep-seated infections and remove them easily. It can be used in a number of ways to cure boils/carbuncles naturally:
- Honey can be used alone over the lesions and kept covered with a band aid.
- A paste can be made with turmeric and oil of oregano to speed up the healing.
- It can also be mixed with wheat germ oil, cod liver oil or castor oil to make a paste.
In every case keep the boil clean and covered and change the dressing once a day. A boil may burst overnight.
Hot Compresses
To bring a boil to head and encourage its easy drainage, heat is a time tested method. You can use heating pads or warm towels to place over the bandaged boils with a bit of pressure for ten to fifteen minutes. This increases the circulation to the area, allowing the body to fight against the bacteria. This can be accompanied with other home remedies for boils to speed up the process.
Garlic
Garlic another popular remedy for boils, is well known for its anti inflammatory activities. It is a natural cure for a number of skin disorders including nail fungus, warts, skin tags and surely boils/carbuncles. As a home cure for boils garlic is crushed and a poultice is made with wheat germ oil and applied to the lesion. Cover the contents with a band aid or medical tape to keep them at place and avoid any mess. Repeat two times a day till the boils come to head, which usually occurs soon. Another way is to apply the fresh juice of the garlic multiple times a day.
Dried Parsley
This is also a well documented home remedy for boils/carbuncles. You can use dried parsley as such by wrapping them in a gauze piece and putting this directly over the lesions. Cover this with a band aid or cotton cloth to keep in place. Repeat twelve hourly. Usually it will take one to two days for a boil to head out. Alternatively parsley can be simmered in water and the resulting paste is applied.
Tomato Paste
Applying tomato paste twice a day is also very helpful home remedy for boils. As with other remedies, keep it covered with a gauze piece and band aid. Repeat the procedure twice a day till the lesion boil bursts open. A relatively easier way is to cut a thick slice of tomato and put it directly over the lesion and cover with a medical dressing.
Baking Soda
This can be used in a number of ways to cure boils naturally. One way is to make a paste with water and apply while another way is to mix with vinegar. This helps to ripen them, break them and drain out the pus.
